NOVENA IN HONOR OF THE HOLY NAME OF JESUS

NOVENA IN HONOR OF THE HOLY NAME OF JESUS

O Merciful Jesus, Who didst in Thy early infancy commence Thy office of Savior by shedding Thy Precious Blood, and assuming for us that name which is above all names; we thank Thee for such early proofs of Thine infinite love. We venerate Thy sacred name, in union with the profound respect of the Angel who first announced it to the earth, and unite our affections to the sentiments of tender devotion which the adorable name of Jesus has in all ages enkindled in the hearts of Thy Saints.

Animated with a firm faith in Thy unerring word, and penetrated with confidence in Thy mercy, we now most humbly remind Thee of the promise Thou hast made, that where two or three should assemble in Thy name, Thou Thyself wouldst be in the midst of them. Come, then, into the midst of us, most amiable Jesus, for it is in Thy sacred name we are here assembled; come into our hearts, that we may be governed by Thy holy spirit; mercifully grant us, through that adorable name, which is the joy of Heaven, the terror of Hell, the consolation of the afflicted, and the solid ground of our unlimited confidence,
all the petitions we make in this novena.
Oh! blessed Mother of our Redeemer! Who didst participate so sensibly in the sufferings of thy dear Son when He shed His Sacred Blood and assumed for us the name of Jesus, obtain for us,through that adorable name, the favors we petition in this novena.
Beg also, that the most ardent love may imprint on our hearts that sacred name, that it may be always in our minds and frequently on our lips; that it may be our defense and our refuge in the temptations and trials of life, and our consolation and support in the hour of death. Amen.

PRAYER IN HONOR OF THE MOST HOLY AND ADORABLE NAME OF JESUS
JESUS!

O Name of Jesus! Sweet Name! Delightful Name! Consoling Name!
For what else is Jesus than Savior! Therefore, O Jesus, for Thy sweet Name's sake,
be to me a Jesus, and save me. Suffer me not to be eternally lost. O good Jesus!
Let not my iniquities destroy me, whom Thy bounty made. O sweet Jesus!
Recognize in me what is Thine, and efface all that is not Thine.
O sweet Jesus! Show mercy now in the time of mercy, and condemn me
not in the day of justice.
What profit to Thy Precious Blood, or what honor will my destruction
give Thy Holy Name, O Jesus!
"The dead shall not praise Thee, O Lord Jesus! Nor all they that go down to Hell."
Most amiable Jesus! Most meek, most loving Jesus! O Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!
Admit me to the number of Thy elect.

O Jesus, salvation of those who believe in Thee! Comfort of those who fly to Thee!
O Jesus, Son of the Virgin Mary! Give me grace, wisdom, charity, purity, and humility,
that I may love Thee perfectly, praise Thee, enjoy Thee, serve Thee,
and be glorified in Thee, with all those who call upon Thy Name,
Thy Holy Name, Thy Sweet name
-----Jesus. Amen.

OTHER  PRAYERS

O GOOD JESUS, according to Thy great mercy, have mercy on me.
O most merciful Jesus, by that Precious Blood which Thou didst will
to shed for sinners, I beseech Thee to wash away all mine iniquities
and to look graciously upon me, a poor and unworthy sinner, as I
call upon Thy Holy Name. Therefore, O Jesus, do Thou save me for
Thy Holy Name's sake.
O God, Who didst appoint Thine only-begotten Son to be the Savior
of mankind and didst command His Name to be called Jesus;
mercifully grant that we may enjoy the vision of Him in Heaven,
Whose Holy Name we venerate on earth. Through the same
Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Blessed be the Most Holy Name of Jesus without end!

Short Prayers to the Most Holy Name

O sweet Name of Jesus, holy above all names in heaven and on earth, and to which every knee, both of men and of angels in heaven, on earth and in hell bends.  You are the the way of the just, the glory of the saints, the hope of those in need, the balm of the sick, the love of the devout and the consolation of those that suffer.
O, Jesus be to me a help and a protector so that your Name may be blessed for all times…
.....(Manualis Parvulorum XIII)
Thomas A. Kempis

The Golden Arrow

May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most mysterious and unutterable Name of God be always praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified in heaven on earth and under the earth, by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ in the most Holy Sacrament of the altar.
This prayer is said to have been revealed by Jesus Himself to a Carmelite Nun of Tours in 1843 as a reparation for blasphemy. "This Golden Arrow will wound My Heart delightfully," He said, "and heal the wounds inflicted by blasphemy."

Prayer to the Holy Name - St. Alphonsus

O my Jesus, thou art the Savior who hast given Thy blood and Thy life for me, I pray Thee to write Thy adorable name on my poor heart; so that having it always imprinted in my heart by love, I may also have it ever on my lips, by invoking it in all my necessities.  If the devil tempts me, Thy name will give me strength to resist him; if I lose confidence, Thy name will animate me to hope; if I lose confidence, Thy name will animate me to hope; if I am in affliction, Thy name will comfort me, by reminding me of all Thou hast endured for me.  If I find myself cold in Thy love, Thy name will inflame me by reminding me of the love Thou hast shown me.  I have fallen into so many sins, because I did not call on Thee; from henceforth Thy name shall be my defense, my refuge, my hope, my only consolation, my only love.  Thus do I hope to live, and so do I hope to die, having Thy name always on my lips.

St. Alphonsus de Liguori, Redemptorist Fathers, 1927.

Prayer to the Holy Name - St. Bernardine of Siena

Jesus, Name full of glory, grace, love and strength! You are the refuge of those who repent, our banner of warfare in this life, the medicine of souls, the comfort of those who mourn, the delight of those who believe, the light of those who preach the true faith, the wages of those who toil, the healing of the sick.
To You our devotion aspires; by You our prayers are received; we delight in contemplating You. O Name of Jesus, You are the glory of all the saints for eternity. Amen.
St. Bernardine of Siena

Prayer Petition to the Holy Name of Jesus

God, You appointed Your only-begotten Son to be the Savior of mankind, and You commanded His Name to be Jesus. I beg that a most ardent love of Your Divine Son imprint that Name upon my heart; that it always be on my mind, and frequently on my lips; that it be my defense in temptation, my refuge in danger, and my consolation and strength in the hour of my death.

Holy Name Prayer of Contrition

Most Merciful Jesus, by that Precious Blood which you willingly shed for sinners, I beg You to wash away all my sinfulness and to look mercifully upon me, a poor and unworthy sinner, as I call upon Your Holy Name. Mercifully grant me, through Your adorable Name, which is the joy of heaven, the terror of hell, the consolation of the afflicted, the refuge of sinners and the strength of those who repent, the grace of eternal salvation through the holy Name of Jesus.
I ask this in Your Name, who live and reign with God the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

Basil of Caesarea Bishop And Doctor

What, then, is more blessed than to imitate
on earth the choirs of angels
hastening at break of day to pray
to glorify the
Creator with hymns and songs,
and, when the sun is brightly shining
we turn to our tasks,
accompanying them everywhere with prayers,
seasoning the daily work with hymns,
as food with salt?
—St. Basil the Great

Basil of Caesarea,Saint Basil the Great  (329-379)
Patron Saint of Hospitals, Administrators, reformers, Monks, Liturgists, education
January 1 or 2, 379), was the bishop of Caesarea Mazaca in Cappadocia, Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). He was an influential theologian who supported the Nicene Creed and opposed the heresies of the early Christian church, fighting against both Arianism and the followers of Apollinaris of Laodicea. His ability to balance his theological convictions with his political connections made Basil a powerful advocate for the Nicene position.
In addition to his work as a theologian, Basil was known for his care of the poor and underprivileged. Basil established guidelines for monastic life which focus on community life, liturgical prayer, and manual labor. Together with Pachomius, he is remembered as a father of communal monasticism in Eastern Christianity. He is considered a saint by the traditions of both Eastern and Western Christianity.
Basil, Gregory of Nazianzus, and Gregory of Nyssa are collectively referred to as the Cappadocian Fathers. The Eastern Orthodox Church and Eastern Catholic Churches have given him, together with Gregory of Nazianzus and John Chrysostom, the title of Great Hierarch. He is recognized as a Doctor of the Church in the Roman Catholic Church. He is sometimes referred to by the epithet Ouranophantor, "revealer of heavenly mysteries".

PRAYERS OF ST. BASIL THE GREAT
O Lord our God, we beseech you, to ask for the gift we need. Steer the ship of our life to yourself, the quiet harbor of all storm-stressed souls. Show us the course which we are to take. Renew in us the spirit of docility. Let your Spirit curb our fickleness; guide and strengthen us to perform what is for our own good, to keep your commandments and ever to rejoice in your glorious and vivifying presence. Yours is the glory and praise for all eternity. Amen.

Saint Basil's Prayer

The Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof.
Dear God, enlarge in us our sense of fellowship
with the animals to whom Thou gave the earth
to be a common home before us
and who share with us the toils, trials, and joys of life.
We remember with sorrow that, in the past,
we have often exercised the high dominion of our kind
with ruthless cruelty so that the voice of the earth
which should have gone up to Thee in song
has so often risen instead as a groan of travail.
May we realize that they live not for us alone
but for themselves and for Thee
and that they, too, love the sweetness of life. Amen.

Prayer of Saint Basil of Caesarea
Deeper Sense of Fellowship
With all Living Things

O God, grant us a deeper sense of fellowship
With all living things
Our little brothers and sisters
To whom in common with us
You have given this earth as home.

We recall with regret that in the past
We have acted high handedly
And cruelly in exercising our domain over them
Thus the voice of the earth
Which should have risen to you in song
Has turned into a groan of travail.

May we realize that all these creatures
Also live for themselves and for you,
Not for us alone.
They too love the goodness of life,
As we do, and serve you better
In their way than we do in ours.
Amen.

FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS   Nm 6:22-27

The LORD said to Moses:
"Speak to Aaron and his sons and tell them:
This is how you shall bless the Israelites.
Say to them:
The LORD bless you and keep you!
The LORD let his face shine upon
you, and be gracious to you!
The LORD look upon you kindly and
give you peace!
So shall they invoke my name upon the Israelites,
and I will bless them."

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Ps 67:2-3, 5, 6, 8.

R. (2a) May God bless us in his mercy.
May God have pity on us and bless us;
may he let his face shine upon us.
So may your way be known upon earth;
among all nations, your salvation.
R. May God bless us in his mercy.
May the nations be glad and exult
because you rule the peoples in equity;
the nations on the earth you guide.
R. May God bless us in his mercy.
May the peoples praise you, O God;
may all the peoples praise you!
May God bless us,
and may all the ends of the earth fear him!
R. May God bless us in his mercy.

SECOND LECTURE OF THE MASS Gal 4:4-7

Brothers and sisters:
When the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son,
born of a woman, born under the law,
to ransom those under the law,
so that we might receive adoption as sons.
As proof that you are sons,
God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts,
crying out, "Abba, Father!"
So you are no longer a slave but a son,
and if a son then also an heir, through God.

GOSPEL OF THE MASS  Lk 2:16-21

The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph,
and the infant lying in the manger.
When they saw this,
they made known the message
that had been told them about this child.
All who heard it were amazed
by what had been told them by the shepherds.
And Mary kept all these things,
reflecting on them in her heart.
Then the shepherds returned,
glorifying and praising God
for all they had heard and seen,
just as it had been told to them.

When eight days were completed for his circumcision,
he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel
before he was conceived in the womb.

HAIL MARY

From the evil one protect me.
At the hour of my death call me.
Into your presence lead me,
To praise you with all your saints
Forever and ever. Amen
HAIL, HOLY QUEEN (SALVE REGINA)
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve:
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this vale of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus,
O merciful, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Amen.
TO JESUS OUR LORD
O Jesus, my Savior, my Lord and my God and my all,
who with the sacrifice on the cross
You have redeemed us and defeated the power of Satan.
I pray you to free me from every harmful evil
and from every influence of the Evil One.
I ask this in your Holy Name and through your Sacred Wounds;
I ask you through your Cross and
through the intercession of Mary Immaculate
and our Lady of Sorrows.
Let your Blood and Water that gushed forth from your side
drop upon me to purify me, to free me and heal me. Amen.
TO MARY
O August Queen of heaven and Sovereign of the angels,
to you who received from God the mission to crush the head of Satan,
we humbly ask you to send to us the celestial legions,
so that they may chase away the demons, fight them,
repress their audacity, and drive them back into the abyss. Amen.
TO MARY MOST HOLY
O Virgin Mary, protect us and our families
from the physical, mental, and spiritual attacks of the Evil One;
and intercede for us before your son Jesus
by whose blood he redeemed the world
and before his Word of Life every knee shall bend in heaven,
on earth, and under the earth.
O Virgin Immaculate, keep far from us
the snares of the prince of darkness
whose force is no match against your blessed mantle
under which every child of yours takes refuge. Amen.

To St. Michael the Archangel
St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in these days of battle,
be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil,
may God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and you, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
Prayer of Liberation
O Lord our God and Father,

PRAYER OF LIBERATION
Almighty and merciful God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
expel from me every diabolic infiltration.
In the name of Jesus Christ, O God, I ask you
to break every occult and evil tie
that the Devil has on me.
Pour on me the most Precious Blood of Jesus, your Son.
Let His pure and redeeming Blood
disintegrate every bond in my body and in my mind.
O Mary Immaculate, St. Michael the Archangel,
I consecrate myself to you,
intercede for me and come to help me.
In the name of Jesus, my Lord and my God,
I command every demon which may have some influence on me
to immediately leave me now and forever.
By the scourging, crown of thorns, cross, blood,
and resurrection of Jesus Christ,
by the true, holy, and almighty God,
I command every demon and damned soul
that may have influence on me and on my house
to leave forever in the name of Jesus Christ,
My Lord and Savior. Amen.
PRAYER FROM THE EVIL ONE (FROM THE GREEK RITUAL)
Our Lord God, O Sovereign of centuries, Almighty and powerful,
You who have made and transform everything with your will;
You who in Babylon transformed into dew the flame
of the furnace seven times more ardent and protected
and saved the three holy young men;
You who are doctor of our souls;
You who are the salvation of those who turn to you,
we ask you and invoke you:
through your servant (name), vanish, chase,
and put into flight every diabolic power,
every satanic presence and machination,
every evil influence and every evil eye of evil persons.
In exchange for envy and evil spell, grant abundance
of goods, strength, success, and charity;
Lord, you who love humankind,
extend your powerful hands and arms
and come to help and visit your image,
sending to it the angel of peace,
strong protector of soul and body
to chase away every evil force,
every spell of corrupt and envious persons,
so that under you your servant will gratefully sing,
“The Lord is my rescuer and I will have no fear
of what can make me a man.
I will have no fear of evil because you are with me,
my God, my strength, my powerful Lord of peace,
Father of centuries to come.”
Yes, our Lord and God,
Have compassion of your image
And save your servant (name) from every harm or menace
coming from the evil spell and protect him
by putting him above every evil.
This we ask through the intercession
of the most blessed and glorious Madonna,
the Mother of God and ever Virgin Mary,
and of the resplendent archangels
and of all your saints. Amen.
PRAYER AGAINST EVERY EVIL
Spirit of the Lord, Spirit of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
Most Holy Trinity, Immaculate Virgin,
Archangels and Saints of Paradise,
descend upon me: mold me, Lord,
fill me with yourself, use me.
Cast out from me all evil forces,
destroy them, so that in good health I can work well.
Cast out from me evil spell, witchcraft, black magic,
maledictions, evil eyes, diabolic infestation,
possession, and obsession; cast out from me
every evil, sin, envy, jealousy, deceitfulness,
and all physical, psychological, moral,
and diabolical evils.
Burn all these evils in Hell, so that they may no longer
touch me and any other creature in the world.
With the omnipotent power of God,
in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ,
through the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin,
I order and command all evil spirits
that molest me to get out from me immediately
and go to eternal Hell, bound by St. Michael the archangel,
By St. Gabriel, by St. Raphael, by our guardian angels,
and crushed under the heels of the Most Holy Virgin. Amen.
LIBERATE ME FROM EVIL
Lord Jesus, if there has been any evil in my soul,
in my body, in my work, in my family,
with your power and mercy, from this moment,
make me return in grace to be completely united
with the Most Holy Trinity.
I ask it of you, Jesus, by your merits,
by your most precious blood shed on the cross,
by the sorrows of the Virgin Mother,
and by the intercession of Patriarch St. Joseph,
to the glory of the Most Holy Trinity. Amen.
PRAYER FOR PROTECTION
Lord Jesus, I ask You to protect my family (mention by name)
from sickness, from all harm and from accidents.
If any of us has been subjected to any curses, hexes or spells,
I declare these curses, hexes or spells null and void
in the Name of Jesus Christ.
If any evil spirits have been sent against us,
I decommission you in the Name of Jesus Christ
and I send you to Jesus to deal with as He will.
Then, Lord, I ask You to send Your holy angels
to guard and protect all of us.
CONSECRATION PRAYER OF
ST. LOUIS DE MONTFORT TO MAMA MARY
IN WHICH BAPTISMAL VOWS ARE RENEWED
I, a faithless sinner, renew and ratify today in thy hands,
O Immaculate Mother, the vows of my Baptism.
I renounce forever Satan, his pomps and works,
and I give myself entirely to Jesus Christ,
the Incarnate Wisdom,
to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life,
and to be more faithful to Him
than I have ever been before.
In the presence of all the heavenly court,
I choose thee this day for my Mother and Mistress.
I deliver and consecrate to thee, as thy slave,
my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior,
and even the value of all my good actions,
past, present and future, leaving to thee
the entire and full right of disposing of me,
and all that belongs to me, without exception,
according to thy good pleasure, for the greater glory of God,
in time and eternity. Amen.
HEALING OF BODY, MIND AND SPIRIT
Dear Lord, I know that there is no sickness You cannot heal.
You know all things. You can do all things
and I know You love me very much.
With faith in Your promise that whatever we ask in prayer,
You will grant us if it will be good for our soul.
I come before You to ask for the healing of my body,
mind, emotions and spirit.
Touch me now where I am hurting most.
Only You know what kind of healing I need most right now.
Let the grace of Your divine love flow and spread
to the different parts of my body
reaching the inner recesses of my being.
Comfort me in my pain and anguish.
Correct any malfunctioning of my body organs.
Melt with Your healing love any abnormal growths.
Arrest all further spreading of all sick cells
And replace them with healthy cells.
Root out all unresolved hurts, resentments, fears
and feelings of despair and frustration.
Heal all painful memories and repercussions
of traumatic experiences.
Grant me the grace to accept this trial and suffering
as a share in Your own sufferings and offer this
for the salvation of my soul
and those of my family and loved ones.
Forgive me for all my sins and fill me
with Your love, peace, joy, kindness and generosity.
Let me realize the deeper meaning of my sickness and trial
and lead me closer to You as I find comfort
in your loving heart.
Let me find joy and peace amidst my suffering,
and with eyes of faith, see the blessing and victory that await me.
And then, dear Father, after I have been healed,
may I be a witness of Your healing power
and bring glory, honor and praise to You.
This I pray in Jesus’ name through Mary
and all the saints. Amen.
PRAYER OF BLESSING FOR BUILDINGS
O Father, come and visit our home (shop, office, etc.)
and protect us from the lures of the enemy;
may Your holy angels come to guard our peace
and may Your blessing remain with us forever.
in Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Lord Jesus Christ, Who said to your apostles,
“In whatever home you enter, greet it, saying,
‘Peace be in this home,’”
let this same peace, we pray abide in this place.
We beseech You to sanctify it by the merits
of our trusting prayer.
Pour Your blessings on it, and make it a place of peace.
May salvation enter our abode
as it entered the house of Zacchaeus,
when You graced it with your presence.
Entrust Your angels to guard it
and banish from it every evil power.
Grant that all who live in it
may please You with their good works,
and so receive from You, when their time comes,
the reward of Your heavenly home.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
PRAYER OF ST. BERNARD (THE MEMORARE)
Remember, O Most compassionate Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that anyone who fled to your protection,
implored your assistance,
or sought your intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence, we fly unto you,
O Virgin of Virgins, our Mother.
To you we come, before you we kneel (stand),
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not our petitions,
but in your clemency,
hear and answer them. Amen.
TO MARY, HELP OF CHRISTIANS

By St.John Bosco
O Mary, powerful Virgin;
you are the great and most illustrious protection of the Church,
you are the wonderful help of Christians,
you who are formidable as an army sent to battle,
you who alone have destroyed
every heresy in the entire world…
in our distress, in our struggles, in our difficulties,
defend us from the enemy;
and at the hour of death,
welcome our souls into Paradise.
Amen.
PRAYER TO THE IMMACULATE VIRGIN MARY
OF THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL
Immaculate Virgin Mary,
beloved Daughter of the Father,
dawn of peace promised to fallen humanity,
who had the special privilege
of being preserved from original sin,
grant that we, too, may always resist
the seduction of the evil one
and follow with loving faithfulness
the inspirations of grace
in the generous practice
of the teaching of the Gospel.
Amen.
ENTRUSTMENT OF THE HOME TO MARY, HELP OF CHRISTIANS
Most Holy Virgin Mary,
appointed by God to be the Help of Christians,
we choose you as the Mother
and Protectress of our home.
We ask you to favor us
with your powerful protection.
Preserve our home from every danger;
from fire, flood, lightning, storms,
earthquakes, thieves, vandals,
and from every other danger.
Bless us, protect us, defend us, keep us as your own,
all the people who dwell in this home.
Protect them from all accidents and misfortunes,
but above all, obtain from them
the most important grace of avoiding sin.
O Mary, Help of Christians,
pray for all those who live in this home
which is entrusted to you for all time.
Amen.
PRAYER TO DEFEAT THE WORK OF SATAN
O Divine Eternal Father,
in union with your Divine Son and the Holy Spirit,
and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
I beg you to destroy the power
of your greatest enemy – the evil spirits.
Cast them into the deepest recesses of hell
and chain them there forever!
Take possession of your Kingdom
which you have created
and which is rightfully yours.
Heavenly Father,
give us the reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
I repeat this prayer out of pure love for you
with every beat of my heart
and with every breath I take. Amen.
